Excuse n°1 : Ne pas se sentir bien
Exemple : « Je ne peux pas venir travailler aujourd’hui. Je me suis réveillé avec de la fièvre, des vertiges et une faiblesse. »
Attention : votre patron pourrait vous demander un certificat médical. Vous pouvez lui dire que votre médecin n'avait pas de rendez-vous disponibles, mais il ne vous laissera peut-être pas passer. Évitez également d'utiliser l'excuse de l'intoxication alimentaire. C'est une affirmation galvaudée et difficile à croire.
Excuse n°2 : Pas de garde d'enfants
Exemple : « Je suis vraiment désolé. La baby-sitter, la nounou ou la garderie de mon enfant ne peut pas la garder aujourd’hui. Je ne pourrai pas venir travailler. »
Attention : Avec cette excuse, votre patron pourrait vous demander de travailler à domicile. Vous pouvez lui dire : « Je ne pourrai pas me concentrer et travailler efficacement tout en m'occupant de mon enfant. »
Excuse n°3 : Enfant malade
Exemple : « Bonjour ____, mon enfant est tombé malade hier soir et son état ne s’améliore pas. Je vais devoir rester à la maison pour m’occuper de lui. »
Attention : votre patron pourrait vous demander de trouver un membre de votre famille ou un ami pour garder votre enfant. Préparez une excuse pour justifier votre refus.
Excuse n°4 : Urgence familiale
Exemple : « Bonjour _____. J'ai été alerté ce matin d'une urgence familiale qui nécessitera mon attention. Je suis désolé, mais je ne pourrai pas venir travailler aujourd'hui.
Attention : Votre supérieur pourrait vous demander quelle est l'urgence. Il n'a pas le droit de le savoir. Vous pouvez dire : « Je suis désolé. C'est un sujet sensible et je ne me sens pas à l'aise de le partager. »
Excuse n°5 : Animal malade
Exemple : « Je suis vraiment désolé, mais mon (type d’animal) a mangé quelque chose hier soir et est malade depuis. Je dois prendre une journée de congé pour l’emmener chez le vétérinaire. »
Attention : Tout le monde n’aime pas les animaux. Votre patron pourrait insister pour que vous emmeniez votre animal chez le vétérinaire après le travail. Si c’est le cas, vous pouvez dire : « Mon vétérinaire ne peut le voir qu’à (indiquer une heure) et je ne suis pas à l’aise de le laisser sans surveillance avant ou après le rendez-vous. »
Excuse n°6 : Problèmes de voiture
Exemple : « J’ai un problème avec ma voiture. Je dois m’absenter du travail pour la faire réparer. »
Attention : Votre patron pourrait vous demander d'être plus précis. Vous pouvez indiquer que votre voiture ne démarre pas, qu'un grincement provient du moteur ou que vous avez un ou deux pneus crevés.
Excuse n° 7 : Journée de la santé mentale
Exemple : « Je dois prendre un jour de congé pour ma santé mentale aujourd’hui. » Ou, si vous transmettez ce message la veille, vous pouvez dire : « Je prends un jour de congé pour ma santé mentale demain. »
Attention : La plupart des entreprises comprennent la nécessité des congés pour raisons de santé mentale. Certaines les incluent même dans leur politique de congés. Si votre patron refuse votre demande, vous pouvez lui indiquer que vous vous sentez épuisé et stressé et que vous souhaitez prendre le temps de consulter un thérapeute.

5 choses à garder à l'esprit
- Expliquez votre besoin de vous absenter du travail la veille ou le plus tôt possible le matin. Plus vous laisserez de temps à votre patron pour s'adapter, moins il sera contrarié.
- Restez simple . N'entrez pas dans les détails de votre journée de congé. Trouvez une excuse et communiquez-la efficacement en limitant au maximum les détails.
- Évitez les excuses qui bouleversent votre vie ou qui sont mémorables (comme un décès dans la famille), car votre patron voudra alors vous recontacter après votre retour au travail pour savoir comment vous vous sentez. Vous serez alors obligé de mentir davantage, ce qui compliquera les choses.
- Choisissez le bon moment. Évitez de téléphoner au travail un jour où vous savez que vous serez très occupé, ou qu'une échéance est à rendre ce jour-là ou bientôt. Attendez et faites l'école buissonnière un jour où l'activité est relativement calme ou juste après qu'une échéance importante a été respectée.
