Creating the perfect ambiance to set the mood in your bedroom is one the easiest things you can do to improve your sex life. You’d be surprised at how much the look and feel of your bedroom influences your love life.
7 Dos and Don'ts to Achieving the Perfect Ambiance in the Bedroom
- A Clean Space
Do: Keep your bedroom free of clutter as much as possible. If you’re a naturally messy person, then just clear it a bit when you want to set the right ambiance. Throw away any trash, dump your kids’ toys in their own rooms and kick the dirty laundry into the closet or down the hall to the laundry room.
Don’t: Become so obsessed with a clean space that you are afraid to get it a little dirty when having fun. The point of your bedroom is to enjoy it, whether that is through relaxation or a little fun in the sheets and sometimes that can get a little messy.
- Lighting
Do: Invest in a smart light bulb where you can control the color of the light and the intensity it shines through an app on your phone or smart home device. Having the ability to dim your lights and choose a more sensual color is a game changer. Include some candles for added depth and ambiance. The best candles to add to your bedroom are flameless candles. You can buy them in all shapes and sizes and control them with a remote.
Don’t: Fill your room with cheap tea lights and heavily scented candles. There’s nothing like a raging fire caused by a candle that was knocked over to kill the mood. It’s the 21st century, its time to invest in flameless candles. The plus side is that you can add as many flameless candles as your bank account can handle, giving you the opportunity to really wow your partner.
- Smells
Do: Find a room or linen spray that contains a light scent that smells “sexy”. Typically, the notes that evoke that feeling the most are sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and teak. Also, experiment with perfumes and colognes and try different scents. Take notice when your partner says, “I love that smell on you.” When you’ve found that scent, save if for the bedroom. Don’t: Overpower your space with heavy scents. Too much in a small space can lead to eye and lung irritation and headaches.
